| Baoshan Steel cuts CR product prices by 22% - 21 Nov, 2008 | ||

Bloomberg reported that Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., China's biggest steelmaker, slashed cold-rolled product prices for December by 22% the biggest cut this year as the economic slowdown damped demand from carmakers and builders. Mr Chen Ying Vice President in a phone interview said that prices of the products, used to make cars and appliances, will drop by CNY 970 per tonne. That will be a 22% cut to CNY 3,526 per tonne excluding tax. He added that Baoshan reduced prices for five types of steel. This is the second time Shanghai-based Baoshan has lowered prices of December delivery products. The company on October 21st reduced cold-rolled product prices by 17% and hot-rolled prices by 20%. Baoshan Steel has slashed prices for three straight months. | ||
