Ferrochrome supplies might tighten due to power problem in SA - 20 Aug, 2008
It is reported that South Africa’s power supply appears to be facing a new problem, just as ferrochrome supplies might tend to tighten again.
Near Cape Town, a nuclear power plant broke down, causing the loss to the power supply of some megawatts of electricity. After the matter, South African ferrochrome suppliers expressed that the ferrochromium supply would face stagnation; the international ferrochrome supply might turn from a surplus to a short supply.
Exports were expecting a surplus of ferrochrome this year, and next year might still face the possibility of supply surpassing demand.
