| Price of manganese ore for shipments to Japan rises again - 01 Jul, 2008 | ||

TEX reported that the benchmark price of Australian manganese ore for shipments to Japan in July to September quarter of 2008 is thought to be settled on USD 12.42 per Manganese 1% FOB by a rise of 10.9% compared with that fixed for the preceding quarter of April to June quarter. Since the price of manganese ore for shipments to China in July to September quarter of 2008 has been decided to rise by 32.7% from that in April to June quarter, an influence of this settlement is anticipated to spread over the price of manganese ore to be shipped to Japan in October December quarter and accordingly, the price of manganese ore for shipments to Japan in the fiscal year of 2008 will certainly rise successively for the two quarters of July to September and October December. The benchmark price of Australian manganese ore for shipments to Japan in the fiscal year of 2008 has been set on the basis of USD 11.20 per Manganese 1% FOB but it has been agreed upon by both parties that, by taking into consideration of the world movements of price for manganese ore, the benchmark price as mentioned above is adjusted in every quarter in accordance with factors for fluctuation. Therefore, it was marked to see on which level is the price of manganese ore for shipments to regular consumers of China in 2008 settled and as a matter of fact, the price of manganese ore for April June quarter has been fixed on USD 12.20 per Manganese 1% CIF China with Australian ore. This price of USD 12.20 CIF for April June quarter has risen by 11% in comparison with that for January March quarter and this settlement of price for manganese ore to be shipped to China in April June quarter has influenced on FOB price of manganese ore for shipments to Japan in July September quarter. For a reference, the price of Australia manganese ore for shipments to regular consumers of China in July September quarter of 2008 has been settled on USD 16.20 per Manganese 1% CIF by a rise of USD 4.00 per Manganese 1% compared with that for the preceding quarter of April June and this settlement with China on price of manganese ore for July September quarter will certainly put a substantial influence on price of manganese ore to be shipped to Japan in October December quarter in form of a rise. In view of the fact that the price of manganese ore settled with China for July September quarter has had a considerable rise of 32.7% from that for April June quarter, this impact is anticipated to be put directly on price of manganese ore to be settled with Japan for October December quarter.
